Welcome to Healii's Polynesian Revue Web site. We are one of San Diego's premiere Polynesian music and dance revues and we also offer classes for those who are interested in exercise and cultural enrichment through dance. We are a touring company and have won many awards at dance festivals and competitions such as E Hula Mau, Tahiti Fete of San Jose, Irvine's Polynesian Dance Competition, the Las Vegas Ka La Hoku, La Fete Internationale de la Polynesie Francise of Las Vegas, Heiva I Reno, and all over Southern California. On April 4, 2004 our haumana along with 16 other halau were in a special concert honoring King Kalakaua's Jubilee at the El Camino College. It was a historical moment presenting chants and auwana that have not been performed since Kalakaua'a 50th birthday. We truly are connected in the "heartbeat of hula" with this event. In October of 2005,Heali'i's Polynesian Revue took our halau to compete in the Tahiti Fete of Hilo. We are excited to tell you that we took 2nd Place for our Ote'a Patitifa and 3rd Place for our Ahuroa. We also had 13 soloist that did a superb presentation of their own individual tahitian dance. Our smooth style was well liked by all. We are so proud and grateful to all the families that were a part of this great event. On April 8, 2006 we were blessed with joining 14 other halau for the "Hei Lei no Kapi`olani Concert". This enriching event was held at El Camino College and put on by Kulia ika Punawai(Kumu Association of Southern California) which Aunty Kathy is a member. Daniel Ho just released the Legacy Hula Volume I "Kalakaua" which Aunty Kathy is one of the 15 Kumu featured on this brand new CD. Her solo track is #8 and this CD is a Grammy Nominee for 2006. If you would like to purchase this CD, please contact her. See our Calendar for more exciting upcoming show dates and times. |
